Laptops supported by Ubuntu

In howto on Aug 26, 2011 by theoryl Tagged: , , ,

I didn’t know that Ubuntu maintains a list of supported laptops and devices at http://www.ubuntu.com/certification. The supported versions for each device are also listed, some with special notes. It’s definitely a great place for Ubuntu users to start shopping for a laptop and to not have to spend hours afterwards fixing compatibility issues. Dell has the largest number of supported laptops (127), while Lenovo has the second (54). For a big manufacturer, HP only has 2. That’s a shame.  Curiously though, Macbooks are not listed, although I used to run Ubuntu fine on a Macbook
